In an ever increasingly world of uncertinainty, its important to remember why we do what we do.

Trust isn’t just given, its earned, one shot at a time. Our products, our word, and our service all have to prove themselves. Reliability doesn’t stop at our products - it’s who we are, and how we stand behind everything that bears the Tanson Precision name.

We build our products with respect for the work — the long hours, the earned pay, and the pride that comes with owning something built to last. Our customers work hard to provide and should take pride in what’s theirs. Every rifle we make reflects that same effort — honest performance that has earned its place.

We’re responsible not just for what we build, but for the impact we create. To us, being good stewards means standing by our word, supporting our community, and building with purpose. Legacy isn’t just what you make, it’s what you give back.

Tanson Precision was born from passion and a bit of defiance, and it grew into something bigger than both.
My career in machining and manufacturing began in 2005, building aftermarket off-road 4x4 parts and diesel-swap components. The company I founded then, Northwest Fab, is still going strong today, recently celebrating its 20-year milestone. Like many shops with their own product lines, we built strong relationships with local businesses, providing contract machining services between building our own parts.
A turning point came years later. I heard “the other guys” were contracting out a fair bit of work to local CNC shops. I called to offer our machining services and was politely turned away. While the “no” wasn’t personal, something stuck. I really wanted to be involved in the industry and I didn't think the product matched the hype. I knew we could do better, and set out to prove it.
What began as a side project became an obsession with building a better rifle chassis; improved design, cleaner lines, and the accuracy to back it up. We built twenty or thirty rifles, and priorities shifted. The pandemic hit, and we paused the project right at the finish line. Probably a dumb choice, but for many small business owners, it was a very defining time.
That pause opened the door to something different. I joined forces in an aerospace and defence venture, Cota Aviation. I focused on business development and helped grow the company into a key supplier supporting major military and aerospace OEMs. Today, COTA produces components operating on some of the world’s most demanding aerospace and military systems on land, at sea, and in the air.
Time flies, and my kids started to grow up. They started to take an interest in shooting, and how things are made. The paused passion project of precision rifles came back into view, this time with a clear purpose and a sense of legacy behind it.
Tanson, originally named after my kids, Tanner and Mason, represets building something that reflects our values. Those values — trust, respect, and responsibility — aren’t just business principles; they’re lessons I believe are worth living by. They guide how we work, how we treat others, and how we build things meant to last. At Tanson, we aim to do better.
With appreciation,
